Writer/Director Nick Stoller is teaming up with Actor/Writer aka funny-man, Jason Segal (think, "Freaks and Geeks," and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall") to pen the script to "The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time." holy moly - this is going to be great.
What will the story be about, you ask? According to internet reports, Kermit reunites with the rest of the gang to save the studio from an evil oil tycoon. The film will contain the usual celebrity cameos, clever parodies and funny gags. Afterall, its Jason Segal and Muppets -- winning combination y'all!!! You just know he won't disappoint.
Since I've already confessed my undying Muppet love, I should further embarass myself by entertaining you with the following story. When I was little, I literally wanted to be the glitzy, glamourous and stubborn Miss Piggy. Back in the day, at the tender age of 7, my mom - knowing i was a huge fan by the way i'd stare at the tv as if in a trance - took me to see Muppets Live at the old O' Keefe center. (Is it the Sony Performing Arts Centre now? I can't keep up with all the name changes!!) I was excited for days - it was better than Christmas and seeing Polkaroo live. Anyway, she bought me this crazy Miss Piggy belt that became one of my most prized posessions as a child. I used to sport that belt EVERYWHERE. Yeah, i thought i was the coolest kid on the block. That belt had superpowers! Then, as the years progressed, I learned of PEPE! he slowly became my new favourite character because he says things like, "You tell him, and I will smack you. I will smack you like a bad, bad donkey, okay!" Random and completely like me. I'm thrilled to hear that Pepe will have a significant part in the upcoming movie because he cracks me up to no end. Before you cast judgement on this completely juvenile post, I have to say in my defense, that I'm a huge little kid at heart and ridiculously nostalgic about everything i treasured as a child.
OH MY GOD!!!!!!! Danielle, I confess, that I too am a Muppet fan!!!(And Jason Segel thrills me to no end for doing this!!) My favourite is Ralph the dog and Fozzie and the balcony dudes (Waldorf and Statler). I can't wait!!
